Mother Nature blew a gale, Friday, October 6th, 2006 for the opening of Old Congress Days, threatening to cancel the dance under the stars announced last weeks. But the Volunteer Fire Department Chief, Virgil Suitor rescued the performance and dance and allowed the event to continue at the fire hall. Over 200 people enjoyed the music of The Arizona Outlaws featuring “Maverick” –- world champion fiddle player. Thanks to Jim Monnett, a new local Congress resident, the whole community was invited to attend free of charge. (The band performed for a small fraction of their expenses.)
